1. 研究目的与意义

English has a wide usage around the world. In the background of #8220;fast and furious#8221; economic development, we China also need to follow the speed of the development at each aspect, especially culture. Thus, learning of language becomes overwhelmingly important, which helps to know good and advanced culture of other countries, and simultaneously promote the communication among these countries. However, learning of English encounters a string of problems, for example, vocabulary teaching and learning. Major teachers, who may be unwilling to do like so, only pay attention to recite vocabulary mechanically not the ways of remembering and the development of students#8217; value, with the condition of huge pressure of entrance. Few teachers take care of the final goal of learning of the second language and development of the students themselves. Thus, the efficiency of learning of English is not distinct or difficult to some students. This thesis wants to research more student-centered teaching mode, making students play main role and promote their learning in the aspect of vocabulary, which helps them continue their relative learning about English.

2. 研究内容和预期目标

Content: This paper researches some relative theories about the development of human and education. According to some famous researchers#8217; article about the education, I choose some theories which I want to support my thesis, including humanism, pragmatism, and psychology. And I give the mode of vocabulary teaching I agree. This mode needs to obey some principles, know the status of teacher and features of this mode. Besides, I also give some strategies for vocabulary learning and teaching. Key question: The key question is to obey some principles in student-centered vocabulary teaching mode and propose more specific strategies. The aim of this paper is to arising attention of the public and gathers to face the serious problems on the vocabulary teaching mode in China. We can learn the advanced and practice the mode.

3. 国内外研究现状

Foreign : It is mainly used as a research of the second language teaching, based on the whole vocabulary system. Vocabulary teaching is mainly to promote and help student gradually be aware of how to use the target language correctly and have strong sensibility to subtle meanings between different vocabulary.

Research condition of domestic: researchers, like Du Xichun, pay more attention to the problems and shortcomings of vocabulary teaching and learning. There are six aspects existing in this process. Firstly, teachers'' isolated teaching. Secondly, students cannot master the scientific ways of remembering vocabulary, with wasting a huge of time reciting mechanically. Thirdly, teachers only emphasize the task of vocabulary memory, ignoring the way of remembering and barely helping students consolidate vocabulary. Fourth, teachers ignore the teaching of culture, thus, students cannot use vocabulary correctly. Fifth, paying less attention to high-frequency vocabulary and barely continuing to study and extend. Sixth, ignoring the non-intelligence factors-interest, rationality, confidence etc.

4. 计划与进度安排

The title of this paper has been chosen between first and twenty-third on November in 2005. During the last month of 2005, I prepared the opening report, which explains the reason and the meaning of this paper, state the outline and the plan how to accomplish this paper. And I also collect some materials and information about this paper at the same time. Then, I will spend about two month writing first draft and continuously revise my first draft with the help of the supervisor. The manuscript will be finalized on the 10th of May in 2022. This paper mainly contains five parts: introduction, relative theories, the student-centered mode, teaching amp; learning strategies and methods, conclusion. There is a huge of information about the current condition of this research, easily seeking for relative material. Thus, the first part of this paper would hardly consume too much time. The second part includes several theories, constructivism, humanism, cognitive psychology etc. servicing for the research of student-centered. I need to read some materials about important theories deeply, supporting my thesis. The writing about this part plans to consume about one month. The third, from the macro point of view, and fourth, from the micro point of view, parts are alike, which can be written at the same time. These two parts contains much information based on the education, requiring a high level of the proficiency of the knowledge. I would seek for some relative books, simultaneously journals and current condition teaching methods both home and domestic. Last part of this paper would arrive at conclude, proposes some questions which need much more attention and give some suggestions about this teaching mode. Of course, as a research of the teaching mode, if specific case involved in this paper, it would be more convincible.
