Language transfer is an important effective factor in second language acquisition. Positive transfer promotes the study of second language acquisition while negative transfer leads to difficulties and impedes the study. The reason of selecting this topic is that I#8217;d like to find out the relationships between language transfers and teaching, especially how does it happen.
2. 研究内容和预期目标
According to Contrastive Analysis Hypothesis which is proposed by Dr. Robert Lado, #8220;those elements that are similar to his native language will be simple for him, and elements that are different will be difficult#8221;. From his theory, we can know that native language is inextricably bound to second language acquisition. This essay researches on the manifestation of language transfer in learning and the influences of language transfer on teaching, finding a way to promote the study of second language.

Chinese scholars began to research language transfer in the late 90s and there are few of academic monographs published until now. In 1996, Du jingbang found out that although with the improvement of English level, Chinese students were less affected by language transfer, and it is not hard to see that there are still difficulties when reach some levels. In 1998, Liao fei thought that the differences between Chinese and English will not totally lead to language transfer. Researches on language transfer began with the work of American linguists in the 1940s to 1950s. In 1957, Dr. Lado pointed out that #8220;those elements that are similar to his native language will be simple for him, and elements that are different will be difficult #8221;. Language transfer was divided into two types: positive transfer and negative transfer, by Selinker in 1983. In 1989, Odlin held a view that whether mother tongue language can promote the study depends on the learning processes and decreasing number of errors. Since 1986, Chomsky created Universal Grammar, proposing that the ability to learn grammar is hard-wired into brain.
