Lakoff, G., amp; Johnson, M proposes the idea that human beings know the world metaphorically is a new challenge to the traditional epistemology. The theoretical system of metaphorical cognition not only poses a new challenge to traditional philosophical theories and marks the birth of cognitive linguistics, but also promotes the development of multi-disciplines and cross-fields, which has important research significance. The study of conceptual metaphor involves linguistics, philosophy, cognitive science and other fields, which is a challenge across many disciplines.

Research contents
From the perspective of Cognitive Linguistics, thethesis centers on the three main types, three prominent features of conceptualmetaphors employed in several samples of Xi Jinping''''''''s diplomatic discourse. Bystudying the conceptual metaphors in Xi Jinping''''''''s diplomatic discourse, thethesis aims at analyzing both the theoretical and the practical significance ofconceptual metaphors.

Conceptual Metaphor Theory
Metaphor is not only a linguistic phenomenon,but also a cognitive phenomenon. The ability of human abstract thinking dependsto a large extent on our ability to project information in concrete domainsinto abstract domains; in other words, conceptual metaphor. Although conceptual metaphor is pervasive in people’s lives andfundamental to the conceptualization, it varies from culture to culture and imposesa silent transforming influence on people’s ideology and bias.
